On Monday, June 17, representatives of the Royal Netherlands Air Force, the Central Government Real Estate Agency, Fokker Services Group and real estate developer Brisck signed a lease agreement for the Fellowship. This is a new hangar complex to be built at Business Park Aviolanda in Woensdrecht. Once completed, the Fellowship will house the maintenance of the NH90 military helicopter, which is also currently carried out in close cooperation between the Air Force and Fokker Services Group.
The name Fellowship – a translation of the word “community” – sums up this collaboration nicely, as Colonel Robin Schoonen, Chief Program Management of the Air Force at Woensdrecht Air Base, explained in his speech. He thanked all employees for their “warrior mindset,” full of resilience, discipline and adaptability. A mindset necessary for working on a complex weapon system like the NH90. Fellowhip is also the name of the iconic Fokker F28, the first jet-powered passenger aircraft built in the Netherlands.
Co-CEO Menzo van der Beek of Fokker Services Group expressed his delight about the construction of the new hangar and the speed with which the Aerospace Maintenance cluster is taking steps towards the future. Together with the other parties involved, he put his signature under the agreement, which concluded the preparatory phase of the Fellowship project. A great occasion to raise the glass with all invited guests to a wonderful project that will take the civil-military collaboration to the next level.
